Kitzbuhel is a tiny but well-known ski resort town in Austria, renowned for international ski competitions. According to my german colleague, Kitzbuhel means little deer. Thus, it wasn’t surprising that I spotted a couple during my stay there. The town of Kitzbuhel is tiny, and caters to more well-off holiday makers. Resorts here cost a fair bit more than other neighboring ski resorts. During the ski season, rooms can go up to several thousand euros per night.
The state capital of Kitzbuhel is Innsbruck, about 100km away. It is famous for hosting Winter Olympics and hosted the first Winter Youth Olympics in 2012. The weather was deliciously cool during my week in Austria and I was lucky to see snow mountain caps even though it was summer. The view of the mountains was beautiful, especially for city dwellers like me.
