Another new hotel I tried out during my regular trips to Hong Kong. What’s with naming hotels and buildings after their addresses?? Anyway, 21 Whitfield is located in Tin Hau, which is just slightly out of the city area. According to Fat Man, this IS the city area. WHATEVER. The location of the hotel is interesting, as it is nestled in the midst of vet clinics and car repair workshops. However, a short 5 minute walk will bring you to the wet market area which has many dining choices. Although the MTR is about 10 minutes walking distance away, you can also opt to take bus no. 5 (right at the hotel’s doorstep) which brings you through Causeway Bay, Central and all the way to Kennedy Town. Convenient much I say!
From the same developers as The Jervois and The Putman, this is also a service apartment style hotel, which means that housekeeping is not done on Sundays and public holidays. Decent sized rectangular room with a small but functional kitchenette right at the entrance of the room. Next is a sitting area with a work desk and a sofa, then the bed which faces the full glass panels. Although our room was on the 9th floor, we still managed to get a decent bit of sea view. The toiletries given here is L’Occitane (my favourite!!) and also full size Colgate toothbrushes and toothpaste! I definitely don’t mind staying here again next time, and try to get the higher floors to enjoy the awesome views of the city. Oh, this place also comes with free (and fast) wifi plus lots of cable tv channels.
